Hi, I’m John Bianchi. I’m 60 years young.
In a previous life, I was a doctor of podiatric medicine. My areas of expertise were surgery and sports medicine.
Unfortunately, after about 5 years of practicing podiatry, I developed a severe case of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)/myalgic encephalomyelitis, and I was forced to stop practicing.
After leaving podiatry, I became a general contractor and real estate developer. Why the switch from medicine to construction?
Basically, it allowed me to set my own hours. This gave me the flexibility to rest when I needed. And it also provided a comfortable lifestyle for my growing family.
After contracting CFS, I spent the next 18 years visiting doctor after doctor and received no answer for the cause of my chronic fatigue, joint pain, myalgia, brain fog, headaches, etc. You get the picture. I had almost every symptom of CFS. Worse yet: traditional medicine provided me with no remedy.
So 12 years ago I gave up on traditional medicine and decided to take control of my own health. I became my own patient, and I began spending countless hours searching the internet for solutions that the mainstream medical community had neglected. Praise God for the internet.
Little by little, I was able to discover and apply alternative healing therapies. Now after 30 years of battling CFS, I’ve overcome it. I should say almost overcome because I don’t think anyone is ever 100% healed from CFS. I’m about 90% recovered but many days I function at 100%.
In the 12 years I spent healing myself, I’ve learned more about the human body and its response to disease than I ever did in school. The most important thing is that in order to heal from chronic disease, you must give your body the resources it needs to heal itself of chronic inflammation.
These include proper diet, rest, sleep, exercise, supplements, reduction of toxins and a good spiritual awareness.
Now at 60, I’m actively engaged in strength training, and I’m almost as strong as I was before I got sick 30 years ago. With my low carbohydrate – healthy fat diet, I look a lot better too.
In this blog, I’ll share the therapies that helped me heal from CFS. I’ll also chronicle my strength training experiences from the perspective of someone plus 45 years old.
Since I continue to have a passion for medicine, I will often blog about cutting edge medical advances in health and anti-aging therapies.
When I’m not blogging, working out, or researching I take daily walks with my lovely wife, Barbara. I also have a passion for American history and have produced several youtube videos here.
Barbara and I have four great children, and this year we have retired from homeschooling them all.
Since I’m also a Christian, I’ll occasionally share my perspectives on Christ and culture.
I look forward to meeting others who have retaken their health, and I hope that through this blog we can inspire and encourage each other.
